Community Guidelines

VicFalls Connect works because travellers, locals and tour operators talk to each other honestly. These are the rules that keep it that way.

The short version: be kind, post your own real photos, keep it about Victoria Falls, and never send anyone past a barrier or into the water.

1. Be the traveller you would want to meet

This feed is full of people planning real trips, and locals who live here. Treat every conversation the way you would treat a guest at your own table.

  • No harassment, threats, insults or pile-ons, in posts or in comments.
  • Disagree with an opinion, never with a person. Explain your own experience instead.
  • Do not share anyone's private details — phone numbers, lodge rooms, or home addresses.

2. Keep it about Victoria Falls

VicFalls Connect is a community for Mosi-oa-Tunya and the people around it: the falls, the gorge, the river, the town, the villages and the trips between them.

  • Stories about spots, activities, food, wildlife and travelling here are always welcome.
  • Ask travel questions freely — planning a trip is part of the community.
  • Posts with no connection to the region belong somewhere else.

3. Share what is real

The value of this community is that people write honestly about what they actually saw and did.

  • Post your own photos and your own words. Do not pass off someone else's work as yours.
  • Describe conditions honestly — water levels, prices, waiting times and closed trails all change.
  • No misleading claims about a spot, an activity or another business.

4. Photos, and the people in them

Cameras are welcome here, but the people of Victoria Falls are not exhibits.

  • Ask before photographing people, especially children, in villages, markets or at their work.
  • Never post a photo of someone who asked you not to.
  • Keep wildlife at a safe distance and never feed animals to get a picture.

5. How tour operators take part

Operators are part of the community and share the same feed as travellers. Being straight about who you are is what earns bookings.

  • Identify yourself as a tour operator on your profile and share real work.
  • Answer questions in public comments so everyone benefits from the answer.
  • No fake accounts, no invented reviews, no talking down another operator.
  • Price and availability claims must be accurate and current.

6. Safety comes before the shot

The falls and the gorge are genuinely dangerous. Never encourage anyone past the barriers.

  • Do not suggest swimming or climbing near the falls, or Devil's Pool without a licensed guide.
  • Do not suggest entering the bush or the river edge without a guide.
  • If you see unsafe advice in a post, report it — we remove it quickly.

7. No spam, no off-platform deals

This is a community, not a marketplace. Posts that exist only to sell something will be removed.

  • No repeated promotional posts, link drops or mass comments.
  • No payment requests, deposits or off-platform deals between members.
  • Operators should list what they run on their profile and talk about it openly instead.

8. Language and tone

English, Shona and Ndebele are all welcome here. Whichever you use, keep it civil.

  • No hate speech about anyone's nationality, race, religion, gender or sexuality.
  • No sexual content, and no graphic images of injuries or dead animals.
  • Keep swearing rare — a family might be reading your post with their kids.

9. Reporting and what happens next

If something breaks these rules, tell us rather than arguing it out in the comments.

  • Report the post or comment, or contact us on the Support page.
  • We review reports and may remove content, warn a member, or remove a profile.
  • Repeat or serious breaches end in a permanent block from the community.

Something breaking these rules?

Tell us instead of arguing it out in the comments. Reports are reviewed by the community team, and you can also ask us about any decision we make.
